West Meon - Hampshire ( 30 min Southhampton, 20 min Portsmouth, 35 min Chichester, easy access from M3)
Passengers who choose a balloon flight from our Hamphire launch site at West Meon are blessed with truly lovely countryside. This part of the South Downs close to the launch site has a fascinating history with ancient hill forts and burial mounds peppering the hillsides. You will be delighted by the whole of this area with views ofQueen Elizabeth Country Park, Stansted Park, West Dean Gardens and Portchester Castle to name but a few. Petersfield and the historic city of Winchester are delightful to visit if you find you have extra time to spend to explore the area. The Headley Park Hotel is used when the wind direction allows us to do so and with its beautiful carp lakes the setting is the perfect place to launch balloon rides. As it’s only a little further east of our main West Meon launch site, the rolling Hampshire countryside is delightful from the air.
Location & Facilities
The launch site is near the crossroads where the A32 meets the A272. There are no toilet facilities. We meet in the launch field near to the West Meon Hut where you can purchase food and drinks all day. If you are coming from Alton direction, turn right at the traffic lights and the launch field is 75 metres up on the left hand side.
